I attended Veggie Fest today and was Amazed at how many people were in attendance. As always, I headed straight for the food court to dive into deliciousness.
First stop Mumbai Munchies
I loved this Indian version of nachos called Papdi Chaat.
Papri chaat is traditionally prepared using crisp fried dough wafers known as papri, along with boiled chick peas, boiled potatoes, yogurt and tamarand chutney and topped with chaat masala and sev.
My second favorite thing was this tiny slice of key lime pie packed with a lot of flavor.
I definitely was excited to try new vegetarian foods, loved all the vendors and even received some great freebies from Whole Foods but I was disapointed that the foods did not have more veggies nor we there any local farmers with veggies for sale.
I really enjoyed the cooking demo out on by Nature’s Pathway organic. The speaker was very energetic and knowledgeable and created two wonderful snacks.
The first was grilled fruit salad.
We werent able to sample it but I love THE idea of combining fresh fruit, Greek yogurt with an organic cereal for crunch.
Overall it was a great day and sure beats eating junk from a fast food chain!
Although I knew most restaurants would be busy on a Sunday for brunch, I lucked out and only had to wait about ten mins. My waitress was Awesome. (Be sure to ask for Nicolette.) I’d highly recommend. Fast, fulfilling and friendly cafe in Roselle Illinois. With plenty of options for everyone!
Went outside my Sunday Norm (eggs benedict) and ordered a big juicy skirt, steak 4 eggs, veggies, and gluten free pancakes. I could only eat a third of this. Lol
Service was Great. Even on a Sunday at 8am. I sat down right away and food was prompt. Thank you Amy for explaining great gluten free low carb options. $9.86 before tip (with my $15 Groupon)
Straight from my kitchen to yours…
My New “Sweet & Classy” Ham, Egg and cheese croissant.
Ham, Egg, spinach, tomato and Grand Cru Surchoix cheese (2016 Winner of World’s Best Cheese), on a Fresh Almond Croissant from Hanna’s Bakery. It’s so light and flaky it melts in your mouth! #yumyum #hungrygirl #jaxkitchen

I am so excited to get my personal food blog up and running. Join me as I venture out into Chicagoland NW burbs and occasionally surrounding states to search for delicious meals under $20. You may see some sweet treats posted here and there throughout my blog too because life is all about balance.
Being a home cook also I focus a lot on Gluten free and allergy free meals for my family so I will be posting some shopping trips for affordable ingredients as well.
Thanks for stopping by, come back often!
